Competition Law

Lwazi advises and represents clients on various aspects of competition law including, prohibited practices, merger control and dawn raids. His experience includes acting on behalf of the Competition Commission of South Africa and various listed and non-listed companies at various forums, including the Competition Tribunal, Competition Appeal Court and the Constitutional Court in proceedings relating to restrictive horizontal and vertical practices, abuse of dominance and merger control.

Lwazi also has experience in notifying of and obtaining approval for small, intermediate and large mergers from the competition authorities. He also advises on general competition law compliance and provides dawn raid training.

Regulatory

Lwazi has assisted clients on various regulatory matters in the ICT, telecommunications, banking and healthcare sectors. His experience includes conducting regulatory and legal compliance audits and advising, amongst others, on:

• the interpretation and application of the Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013 (POPIA);
• the interpretation and application of the Promotion of Access to Information Act No. 2 of 2000 (PAIA);
• the interpretation and application of the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act No. 70 of 2002 (RICA); and
• the interpretation and application of various regulations across the abovementioned industries.
