Deadline for submission of COVID-19 Temporary Employer / Employee Relief Scheme (“TERS”) applications

On 30 April 2020 the Department of Employment and Labour released a statement regarding the deadline for submission of applications under the COVID-19 relief scheme. The Department has confirmed that the deadline for doing so has not yet been reached. The period for the benefit will depend on the Memorandum of Agreement concluded between the employer and the UIF but it will not exceed 3 months. The Department has also stated that employers should continue to apply for the TERS relief benefits until the Department indicates otherwise.
