Kathleen Louw is a Director in the Dispute Resolution practice at Werksmans Attorneys with experience in complex commercial litigation and regulatory disputes.

She advises and represents clients in contractual disputes that are progressed in the various forums of mediation, arbitration and High Court litigation. Her practice includes commercial disputes involving companies, directors, shareholders, trusts, heirs & beneficiaries and the administration of estates.

Kathleen represents industry leaders across multiple sectors, developing litigation strategies that are commercially grounded and outcome-focused. She has acted in a number of high-profile matters in both arbitration and court proceedings.

She is also a member of the firm’s mining team and has particular expertise in mining law. She represents mining clients in High Court litigation and advises on regulatory engagements with the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR). Her experience includes preparing and lodging internal objections and appeals with the DMPR and, where necessary, instituting judicial review and mandamus proceedings once internal remedies have been exhausted.

Kathleen is valued for her strategic judgement, technical rigour and ability to navigate complex disputes efficiently and decisively.
