Employers who are registered with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (“UIF”), who have had to fully or partially close down their business due to the lockdown and are unable to pay their employees’ salaries are entitled to apply for the COVID-19 TERS benefit on behalf of their employees in May 2020. These applications can be lodged with the UIF once they have updated their website. Applications will again be made through the online portal at: https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/covid19/.
